The Generation of Miracles (キセキの世代 Kiseki no Sedai) is an all-star team of Teikō Junior High. It is a team of 5 (arguably 6) players, each with their own exceptional talent. The team won the junior high school Nationals for the last three consecutive years, but the five players (Seijuurou Akashi, Atsushi Muraskibara, Daiki Aomine, Shintarou Midorima & Ryouta Kise) are now scattered across five different schools (Rakuzan High, Yousen High, Touou Academy, Shuutoku High & Kaijou High), rivaling each other in high school basketball competitions. Notable is the existence of a sixth phantom player, Tetsuya Kuroko (Seirin High), who was their sixth man and is closely affiliated to them.

Seirin High (诚凛高校, Seirin Kōkō) is a high school basketball team in Tokyo where Tetsuya Kuroko and Taiga Kagami play. The basketball club was founded only one year before the current story-line by Teppei Kiyoshi, so the team only consisted of first and second-years (currently second and third-years). Quite unusually, the team's coach is a high schooler, daughter of sports trainer, Riko Aida. Her sex and age has caused some to think that she's a manager.

Seirin High is noted for having an exceptional high-leveled run-and-gun style. Their offensive firepower is considered one of the best in the region. Their main line-up is composed of the rookie-duo Kuroko and Kagami, "Iron Heart" Kiyoshi, the clutch shooter Hyūga and the control tower Izuki.

The Uncrowned Kings (无冠の五将, Mukan no Goshō) is a term used to describe five players that are almost as strong as the Generation of Miracles. If these players had been born in a different time, they would have held that title of Miracles, however their individual skills were overshadowed by the collective abilities of the Teikō team. Unlike the Generation of Miracles, the Uncrowned Kings didn't play on the same team, but were rivals; they are known to be full of pride.
